Biofeedback is defined as a type of complementary and alternative medicine called “mind, body therapy “. It is designed to enable you in mind-over-matter fashion- to use your thought and will to control your body. Biofeedback is based on the idea confirmed by scientific studies that people have the innate potential to influence with their minds many of the automatic involuntary functions of their bodies. In other words, biofeedback manipulates the body’s physiological responses that are normally controlled by the automatic nervous system.

Biofeedback is a technique that can be useful in a wide variety of conditions. For Instance, while it cannot cure cancer but it can help the cancer patients in relaxation and reduction of stress, nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy. It is non-invasive, inexpensive and safe. When it is combined with Music Therapy, the beneficial effects multiply.

I have organized Bio guided Music Therapy Seminars at Vimhans (Vidyasagar Institute of Mental Health Neuro & Allied Sciences) Hospital, New Delhi with Dr Eric Miller, Biofeedback therapist and Board-certified music therapist who is also the author of “Bio guided Music Therapy” and Executive Director of nonprofits “Music for People”. In the USA Music Therapy is an established healthcare practice.

I have also organized a Bio-guided Music Therapy seminar “Where Music Complements Traditional Approach” at Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon which was inaugurated by Dr Naresh Trehan and conducted by Dr Eric B Miller for the benefit of Resident psychiatrists and psychologists.
