Child, Teen & Parenting Counselling
Growing up brings real pressures — friendships and fitting in, schoolwork, how they see themselves against everyone else online, and simply working out who they are. Not every child or teenager will tell a parent when something's wrong; sometimes they need someone outside the family to talk to.

What SFCT offers
SFCT's counsellors work with children, teens, and parents on things like peer pressure and friendship difficulties, bullying, academic stress, anxiety, low motivation and self-worth, anger, and the effects of a difficult or unsettled home life. As the writer Alvin Toffler put it, "parenthood remains the greatest single preserve of the amateur" — and sometimes a parent needs support too, not just the child.
Important considerations
Like SFCT's therapies, its counselling is offered alongside — and never in place of — a person's existing medical or psychiatric care. SFCT's counselling is a support service, not a substitute for specialist child or adolescent mental health services where those are needed. If you're concerned about someone's immediate safety, see Crisis & Safety Information.
Session format
Sessions may be one-to-one or with the family, depending on the situation. Counselling may be offered in person, online or by phone, depending on the service and individual circumstances. Generally under 1 hour; may vary depending on the individual case.

Other Counselling Services
Grief and Bereavement Counselling
Grief doesn't move in a straight line, and it doesn't look the same for everyone — it's shaped by your background, your culture, your relationships, and what you believe. SFCT's bereavement counselling gives you space to put words to what you're feeling: anger, guilt, fear, sorrow, sometimes all at once.
Couples and Relationship Counselling
A relationship that's lost its footing doesn't always need an ending — sometimes it needs a space where both people can say what they actually mean, without it turning into another argument. SFCT's couples counselling creates that space: somewhere to communicate honestly, without judgement, and start to understand each other's side again.
Crisis & Safety Information
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, contact emergency services or a crisis helpline right away. SFCT does not provide emergency crisis intervention — find safety resources and referral information here.
