Grief and Bereavement Counselling
Grief doesn't move in a straight line, and it doesn't look the same for everyone — it's shaped by your background, your culture, your relationships, and what you believe. SFCT's bereavement counselling gives you space to put words to what you're feeling: anger, guilt, fear, sorrow, sometimes all at once.

What SFCT offers
People often move through grief in stages that aren't always tidy or sequential — a period where grieving feels delayed or stuck; a stretch of withdrawal or low motivation; a turning point where acceptance starts to feel possible; and, over time, a kind of rebuilding — not 'getting over' the loss, but finding a way to carry it. An SFCT counsellor can help you recognise where you are in that process, and work through it at your own pace.
Important considerations
Like SFCT's therapies, its counselling is offered alongside — and never in place of — a person's existing medical or psychiatric care. Grief affects everyone differently, and there's no fixed timeline for it. If grief is accompanied by thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please see Crisis & Safety Information right away.
Session format
Sessions are typically one-to-one. Counselling may be offered in person, online or by phone, depending on the service and individual circumstances. Generally under 1 hour; may vary depending on the individual case.

Other Counselling Services
Child, Teen & Parenting Counselling
Growing up brings real pressures — friendships and fitting in, schoolwork, how they see themselves against everyone else online, and simply working out who they are. Not every child or teenager will tell a parent when something's wrong; sometimes they need someone outside the family to talk to.
Couples and Relationship Counselling
A relationship that's lost its footing doesn't always need an ending — sometimes it needs a space where both people can say what they actually mean, without it turning into another argument. SFCT's couples counselling creates that space: somewhere to communicate honestly, without judgement, and start to understand each other's side again.
Crisis & Safety Information
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, contact emergency services or a crisis helpline right away. SFCT does not provide emergency crisis intervention — find safety resources and referral information here.
